Where it began- The 1980's

A few elements were not working for this homeowner. First of all, the whirlpool bath no longer whirled, there was no walking in this walk-in shower, and of course the tile was quite dated and no longer worked with the home's color scheme.

First we swapped the big whirlpool tub for a deeper soaking tub and almost doubled the shower size by taking in some wall space that was used only for a towel rod. Instead, we installed a towel warmer on our new pony wall. We also took advantage of the amazing natural light pouring in by removing the dark wall cabinet over the toilet and the dark wood shade from the window on the left. These cafe curtains provide necessary privacy and have a little African motif as a little nod to the couple's time they spent there. Fresh marble look porcelain tile on the floor and walls bounces all that lovely daylight around the bathroom, and a showstopping chandelier gives an appreciation for the awesome ceiling height.

The wood of the vanity cabinets were in great shape, so the homeowners wanted to keep them. They also wanted to be able to use the knee space as a functional place to put on makeup and dress for the day, so we worked together to re-organize and managed to fit laundry into the taller side of cabinets.

We brightened and modernized the space with warm white quartz countertops and simple brass sconces. We added more interest and texture with three new mirrors and updated the plumbing fixtures and hardware. Throw in a comfy chair and this is a glam place to get ready everyday.
